A forest Retreat Centre
- Location: 30km inland from the Cape Coast, South-Africa. The district is called the ‘Garden Route’, a magnificent area rich on untouched beaches, rivers, lagoons, indigenous forests, mountains etc. Lotus Garden is situated in Kraaibosch, bordering the vast Knysna forest. The closest towns are Knysna – 45km away, and Sedgefield – 30km. We are at the end of the road – an ideal place to retreat, to take leave from this world for a while, to relax and to go deeper into meditation.
- Cost: We currently charge R150.- a night per night per person. This enables guests to use all of the retreat facilities. Guidance and facilitation is on donation basis.
- What we offer: simple wooden A-frame huts, nestling under trees, a beautiful meditation hall with a hugs stone fireplace, wood heated showers, a half enclosed equipped kitchen with a conservatory as a dining room, composting toilets, an extensive audio library of discourses and meditations as well as books, guidance and loving support. It is a unique place, with a simple charm – very comfortable. It is an experience of dancing with the elements in a protected way.

There are beautiful walkways, where you can walk for hours without seeing a house, a car or other people, where you cannot even hear the sound of dogs barking. Adjacent to our property is the state forest with huge rock pools and a gorge to swim in, although a little difficult to get to. Dung and spoors of elephants have been sighted frequently.
- Programs: We are running monthly Full Moon Retreats, always starting on a Saturday 6pm until the following Monday 4pm. The Lotus Garden is open for individual retreats and also for people who want to spend time quietly in nature. Occasionally we also organize holiday camps with a difference. We give reductions to people who want to stay longer, especially if they are willing to extend a hand here and there.
The retreat centre can also be used as a venue for suitable workshops, seminars or retreats and meetings.
- What to bring: A torch, bedding, vegetarian food to cook, unless prior catering arrangements are being made and drinking water if you don’t trust drinking our rain water which is collected from the roofs.
